  • Kick or keep?

An American journalist once tried with her husband and sons to kick China-made goods out of their house. They wanna know whether they can survive without China.

Before this, her life was coated with an awful number of Chinese toys, gadgets, and sixpence children shoes. She worried about jobs sent overseas or nasty reports about human rights abuses, but price trumped virtue at her house. They couldn't resist what China was selling.

Yes it is true that in every corner of the world can be found China-made goods like: sneakers, bags, toys, clothes and even computers and cellphones. Along with the globalization of China-made goods comes the disapproval. Innovation and quality are the main concerns. Yes it is true that China-made goods are sold throughout the world, but they are probably poor-qualified products. Many of them are produced by small factories lack of technology and are not quality- guaranteed, damaging the reputation of China-made. Yes it is true that China-made Apples are widely used, but those Apples are exactly OEM products. They are goods manufactured by an original equipment manufacturer and labeled Apple, earning quite pathetic profits.

Although some of the China-made goods are of poor quality, we still maintain a large share in the world market. So all we need now is to improve the quality. If we can cultivate awareness of quality; if we can establish standards of quality and if we can supervise the quality of the outcome. We can continue to hold the share in the world market.

Although we make vast OEM products, it improves our manufacturing capability. So what we need is to produce world famous brands of our own. We should encourage invention and innovation; we should protect intellectual property rights and at the same time, we should fight against fake and shoddy products. Only in this way can we transfer China-made into China-innovated.

I am sure there will be a day when China-made is welcomed back to the family of the American journalist; i am sure there will be a day when China-made is embraced by the world.
