The Convention on Biological Diversity COP15 will take place in Kunming, China, between October 11 and 24, 2021.
An international video-speech contest themed “Ecological Civilization: Building a Shared Future For All Life on Earth” is now open for application. The contest is organized by the Yunnan Provincial Speech Society and China Daily 21st Century English Education Media.
We are committed to improving cultural exchanges and dialogue between people worldwide by offering an opportunity for them to communicate with each other and to better understand each other’s cultures.
About the contest

What language should I speak?
Contestants can deliver their speech in either English or Chinese. Those delivering their speech in Chinese will be divided into an adult group and an adolescent group.
Who can take participate?
The competition is open to speakers both in China and elsewhere.
How to enter?
Scan the QR code to download the COP15 International Online Video Speech Contest Application Form.
If you are presenting your speech in English, please send the materials (application form, speech script either as a Word or PDF file and speech video that meets the requirements) to intl@21stcentury.com.cn with the subject of the email being “name + group + English speech” before September 30.
If you are presenting your speech in Chinese, send materials to the designated email address: ynspeech@126 (for adults) or to 276001185@qq.com (for adolescents) with the subject of the email being “name + group + Chinese speech” before September 30.
Requirements for video:
•All videos should be recorded in the same format.
•The video should be no longer than 6 minutes.
•Indoor horizontal screen recording is required.
•Speakers should be standing while speaking and not refer to any written script or notes.
•Speakers should show their whole body in the recording for the entirety of the speech, and speakers should dress appropriately (national costume is acceptable).
•The video should not be edited.
•The background should be clear and clean (PowerPoint, video, etc can be used as the recording background).
•The video and audio should be recorded clearly.
•The uploaded speech video should be in MP4 format, and the video size should not exceed 300 megabytes.
• The video must not contain content that is not related to the speech, such as corporate publicity or commercial promotion.
Timeline
(1) Online preliminary contest (May-September 2021)
All the speech videos applicated for the competition will be reviewed by a team of experts assembled by the organizing committee. After submitting their works in the preliminary stage, contestants can share their works on WeChat, Weibo, Douyin video accounts and other platforms to collect likes. The relevant data will also be used as a reference for the comprehensive evaluation made by the judges.
(2) Final round (September-October 2021)
The grand final of the competition will be held in Yunnan. Contestants unable to make it to the offline competition for special reasons after making it to the finals may take part through an online video connection in specific circumstances. The exact time and venue of the final is yet to be decided.
Awards
In the final stage, first, second and third prizes of the Chinese speech group and English speech group will be awarded. In addition, the Most Creative Award, the Best Style Award, the Best Content Award, the Most Popular Contestant Award, etc will also be determined. Trophies will be awarded.

Copyright of the speeches, speech recordings and videos will belong to the organizing committee.
