演讲稿:

One sunday in 2009, an unhappy thing happened in my dormitory. Story started with a song. After watching a tragic movie, I felt really depressed and ask my roomates to recommend an inspiring song. "Flute solo is the best choice. It helps you to calm down. ", one girl said. "Well, why not choose Linkin Park to expel your sadness." suggested the other. "How noisy the rock'n'roll is! I still think she needs something more gentle"the first girl argued. The second girl felt uncomfortable and yelled,"No! How can you judge a book by its cover! You even never listen to rock music!"Well, I never thought this embarrassing thing could happen. Just as they said, the flute solo does have a power to my refresh myself. And the heavy metal is the best choice for releasing the depression. So I tried both. Personally, I love all kinds of music for it conveys feelings and emotions. However, not all the people are like me. So comes the clashes. We cannot say they did something wrong, because cultural clashes and coexistence are two different phenomena. They have their own uniquenesses and cannot be replaced by each other.

Since we cannot separate cultural clashes and cultural coexistence, I think we should consider them apart.

First, cultural coexistence. With the process of globalization, it's much easier for us to experience a different culture directly. When we hear Avril Lavigne in Beijing, the west enjoy Song Zuying in Sydney opera. When we play the violin, the west copes with Erhu. It ought to be a good thing. Our gains from the west ought to contribute to the development of ours. But unfortunately, some people gradually lose themselves and start to abandon our traditional ones. They think that those are too out-of-date. Every culture is special. The uniquness shouldn't be ignored and shouldn't be destroyed by our blind worship. It's our honor to enjoy own culture. It's our duty to keep it unique and away from vanishing.

As to cultural clashes. I think it's leaded by the differences in culture. For example, we Chinese pay more attention to harmony, so our traditional music may sound peaceful and understated. The west emphasis personalities, thus, their music may always have a strong beat. We couldn't distinguish which is the best, but we could admit that nothing is impeccable. Therefore, when the clashes of cultures show up, we shouldn't ignore but reconsider it. A culture should forsake its corrupted part. A culture should absorb merits from another. Because only in this way, can we polish our culture into a better one, can we make it vivid and eternal.

Ladies and gentlemen, cultural clashes and coexistence are two situations that can never disappear. Greatly influenced by them, our culture is thriving. Greatly influenced by them, our life is swinging. Accept the clashes and coexistence, for they contribute to perfecting our culture! Enjoy the clashes and coexistence, for they bring us a brilliant life!
