The Defeat of Taipei Team

I have never thought it could touch the hearts of many people. This is my first time to watch a live event of soft tennis, where Chinese Taipei and Japan compete for the gold medal in women's doubles.

In the first half of the competition, Taipei took a significant lead, so I thought they would certainly seize the victory. I set out to interview a family from Taiwan. There were dozens of people, wearing family suits and waving Taipei flags. I asked one of the ladies some questions, and she said that her sister is a fan of soft tennis. This time, the whole family flew over from across the strait to support the Taipei team, the game was very exciting, and so on. Finally, I asked her what she would say to the Taipei team, she said softly: “It's been tough for them, and they've had a hard time all the way. I'll always be proud of them.” I didn't fully understand at the time, I was just a bit surprised, so I gave a few blessings and left.

Later, unfortunately, Team of Chinese Taipei was unexpectedly reversed by Team Japan, and everyone was very regretful. At this moment, I glanced at the family and discovered that their entire family, especially the elderly, their eyes became moist. At that moment, I realized what the Asian Games meant to them. They must have come all the way from the other side of the sea for a reason.

Nowadays, China is becoming stronger and stronger and wins in various competitions. We may forget why we first went to watch the Asian Games and the Olympic Games. How many Argentinians shed tears on the night of the 2014 World Cup final? How many Malaysians suffered sleepless nights when Li Chongwei lost the finale at the 2016 Olympics? Dating back to a hundred years ago, when Liu Changchun traveled thousands of miles to participate in our first Olympic Games, he carried the spiritual sustenance of all Chinese people. With the world generating, this sentiment may have gradually faded, but it lasted permanently and has never changed.
